A FEW WORDS ABOUT US

MORPH is an initiative that aims to provide services and support for victims/survivors of sexual violence, educate individuals and communities about the multiple layers and effects of sexual violence, and to dispel myths and challenge societal norms.

OUR STORY

MORPH is an initiative of the Pictou County Support Network; a partnership of local agencies and organizations that have been afforded the opportunity to provide and enhance sexual violence services in our community through the Nova Scotia Sexual Violence Strategy.

MORPH aims to support and empower people living in Pictou County who have been affected by sexual violence by coordinating and providing necessary services so victims/survivors will have the tools needed to begin to heal, reclaim their power and regain control of their lives.

We believe that with coordinated, culturally competent and trauma-informed supports in place, we can begin to map the road to power and healing for people in Pictou County who are experiencing or have experienced sexual violence.

Morph stands for Mapping Our Road to Power and Healing. It represents the courage, resilience and support needed to move forward to a place of healing and power after the traumatic aftermath of sexual violence.

Each person experiences and responds to trauma differently. Morph does not imply there is only one path to power and healing, nor does is suggest an appropriate path, that is for only the individual to decide. With information, options, support, and advocacy, individuals are empowered to choose the path that will work best for them.

Morph Pictou County also refers to the shift in social norms and ideals that we are working toward. We can no longer remain in silence, as a survivor, bystander, or an ally. Educating our communities about sexual violence and breaking down the myths that exist opens the floor for conversation to take place.

Comments that include vulgarity, threats or discrimination will not be tolerated. Comments of this nature will be deleted, reported to authorities and users banned from the conversation. Comments that are contrary to our message may be responded to with a restatement of our message. Ongoing comments of this nature, if deemed to pose a risk to the safety of users on the site may be banned.
